Having been awarded the national arts award for the best artistic programme, ŻiguŻajg returns with an eclectic selection of 27 projects from 11 different countries.
For its eighth edition, we will be presenting a unique celebratory experience with activities on the streets, interactive installations in main squares and other artistic works in over 20 different locations. In the year we’re celebrating the European Capital of Culture, Valletta will serve as a stunning backdrop for our programme which seeks to strengthen the quality and excellence of the creative sector.
This festive scenario will also be extended beyond Valletta in a number of schools around Malta and Gozo. In so doing, we will not only cater for the thousands who visit annually but also others who in the past did not have such an opportunity.
Children remain our main protagonists and this year is no different, with projects which have been developed by children and youths who seek to have a career in the sector with mentorship from professionals. These add up to a highly diverse selection of productions which includes 12 different creative forms and aims to increase audience appreciation of the arts and culture.
Moreover, in this edition we will continue consolidating our collaboration with other local cultural entities with a series of productions that have as emphasis the concept of a ‘playground’, and how children identify themselves with the theme of ‘play’. The international selection will complement this concept with a number of representations by well established companies.
