Set during the civil war era of 1946, The Taking of Tiger Mountain is adapted from the famous Chinese novel Tracks in the Snowy Forest by Qu Bo. As bandits terrorize the population, the People’s Liberation Army of China struggles to clear out illegally occupied territories far and wide — and to defeat the ruthless warlord known as Hawk, who resides in an infamously impenetrable fortress on Tiger Mountain. When Hawk’s raiders cross paths with Unit 203 of the Liberation Army, the intrepid Captain 203 and an undercover investigator named Yang begin a battle of wits against the fierce bandit lord inside an icy, snowy forest.
Throughout 2017, the China Cultural Centre is organizing an exciting series of cultural activities and events to mark the 90th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Liberation Army of China. Audiences can look out for performances, exhibitions, lectures, film screenings and much more, in commemoration of this national date.
