Winter 1944. Lucía, a 21-year-old girl, returns to a small mountain village.
There she meets Manuel, a young blacksmith who is a blacksmith who collaborates with the maquis: guerrillas who, hidden in the mountains, refuse to resign themselves to the triumph of Franco’s regime. Lucía begins to feel attracted to Manuel, especially for the courage he shows in risking his life to defend his ideas. When, at last, Manuel takes to the hills, Lucía discovers the inhospitable reality of life in the mountains: silence and fear roam the empty streets of the village. Despite this, her passion for Manuel encourages her to stay.
