Malta Indie Shorts – July edition
July 1st 2021, 7:00pm – 8:30pm

Malta Indie Shorts is an exciting event for local filmmakers and audiences.
Each month, we showcase 3 notable short films which were produced and
shot here in Malta, as well as chat with each of the directors.

This audience interaction is vital for filmmakers. The public also gets a great
chance to learn about filmmaking, through artists working right here in Malta &

Disclaimer: ‘Burst’ contains extended scenes of nudity and strobe lighting
effects. Minimum age recommendation for the whole event: 16 years old.

July 1st 2021 Programme:

● Marbut (2018) – Dir. Winston Azzopardi (Thriller):

Robert awakens after his stag-do to find himself blindfolded and tied up.
Initially assuming he’s the victim of a boyish prank… he soon realises that
his captor is someone from his past, with an altogether more serious intent.

● Dream Big, Little Cowboy (2019) – Dir. Aldo Zammit (Adventure):

7-year old James learns that his beloved teacher will be replaced.
Combining his fears with incomplete information about the new tutor, it’s
not long before his fertile young imagination runs riot.

● Burst (2021) – Dir. Rachel Micallef Somerville (Experimental):

A meditation on movement of the body, liberation and absurdity.

Malta Indie Shorts is created and hosted by Andrew Bonello. For more info, and
