A collection of great stories and memories! These unprecedented times provide a wonderful opportunity to reminisce and look through our personal photo albums, scrap books or recordings recalling days gone by. We at Spazju Kreattiv have been looking through our building’s past history.
An era full of activity The Advent of World War II and the incessant air raids on the harbour area saw St. James Cavalier utilised as a bomb shelter for Valletta Residents. The upper storeys served as the Navy Army and Air Force Institute (NAAFI) shop. Post independence in 1964, the site was again repurposed as the Government Printing Press. In the year 2000, the building was restored and transformed into the National Centre for Creativity as the Millennium legacy project for Malta.
Have you any recollections of the War shelter, the NAAFI or the Government Printing Press at St James Cavalier? Would you like to share your stories with us? We would be happy to hear from you!
