Wiki Loves Monuments in Malta 2018 Competition
1 September - 30 September| Free
Dates and Times: Saturday, 1 September 2018 – Thursday, 30 September 2018
Venue: Spot A, Spazju Kreattiv
The annual international photographic contest, Wiki Loves Monuments, aims to promote and share knowledge about heritage sites across the world through Wikimedia projects (mainly Wikipedia and Wikimedia Commons). This micro-exhibition presents information about previous entries and winners, and about this year’s contest. Wiki Loves Monuments is organised by Wikimedia chapters and groups worldwide.
This project encourages individuals to submit photos of heritage sites within their localities/communities to Wikimedia Commons, using a free licence, thereby allowing for images to be used and shared freely by anybody. A national jury selects up to 10 entries within each participant country and submits them to the competition’s international jury (composed of photographers, photojournalists and experts in cultural heritage), who select the final winner of the competition.
